stay home if you are sick

So here is my rant about sick people: Parents if your child is sick please keep them at home. We went through a bout of flu like symptons and the girls stayed home. Once they were all better, they went back to school. We then went to their swim lessons and one of the kids was coughing like crazy. Surprise surprise now one of my girls is coughing like crazy. Now I know people get sick but you should stay home if you are. You should also have a plan when your kids get sick so you are not forcing them out the door because you can't miss work. One of my daughter's classmates puked 3times at school for 3 days in a row(mon tues wed), and still the parents kept sending him to school. Unbelievable! And 1 more thing before I am done ranting, just because you take dayquil or some other medicine that makes you feel better does not mean you are better. You are still a walking sick factory. Alright I am done.
ps i will get back to posting more often. :)

busyness

Busyness. That is the word the best describes how December was for our family. My lack of posts shows where my priorities are: my family. So I set a new goal of at least one post per week.
On Christmas Eve we went sled riding at night which was fun. There were street lights so there was a festive glow. Afterwards we found this tall snowbank and played a little queen/king of the hill.

What does a Vegan eat for Thanksgiving?

For Thanksgiving I decided to let everyone pick one of their favorite dishes to make for our Feast. Samsara picked a seitan/turkey roast. Macyn picked a cheezy/nutritional yeast noodle bake. Sam picked sauteed cabbage and I picked mashed potatoes and gravy. We also made a merlot cranberry sauce, cornbread stuffing, fresh cut veggies with tofu ranch dressing, sweet potatoes, and a pumpkin pie. As you can see there is quite a bit of food. So if anyone wonders "What do vegans eat?" We eat all kinds of food. We just don't eat animals or things that come from animals.

Albuquerque Turkey

One of the best children's books for Thanksgiving. My daughter was given this book by her grandma Jude and her aunt Kristy. This book has such a feel good message and no animals were harmed in the reading of this book.

Have a Compassionate Thanksgiving!

trick or treat

We have been so busy. When you have 2 kids and halloween coming up you get busy. We are lucky enough here that our local pediatric dentist will pay $1.oo per pound of candy and then he donates the candy to the troops. That solves our issues of trick or treating for non vegan candy. Of course I would love if everyone gave out vegan candy but you do what you can.

Happy Halloween

UPDATE City deer Killing

This article could be disturbing for some people. When you click on the link live video footage starts running with sound. It is an actual capture and killing(culling is what the city calls it)of a deer. I am in total support of the police officers and they are doing what they are ordered to do. My disgust falls on the officials who obviously are all talk. I do not see any city politicians going out and watching their handy work.
